Predicting The Overseas Players You’ll See At Mumbai Indians In IPL 2022

If five time champions Mumbai Indians want to continue their dominance in Indian Premier League, they will have to win the 2022 season. The franchise has retained its four core members including Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard.

MI made smart overseas buys, including all rounder Tim David, Dewald Brevis, Riley Meredith, and Fabien Allen. And it spent a whopping amount of INR 8 crore on express pacer Jofra Archer, but it has been confirmed that he won’t be available for this year’s edition.

In this blog, we will predict MI four best overseas player combination for IPL 2022

Kieron Pollard

Keeping in mind the importance of team chemistry, Mumbai Indians have decided to retain Kieron Pollard at a cost of INR 6 crore. He was one of the stand out players for them last season and has been an integral part of the team for many years now. He’ll be looking to bring his best game for MI again this season.

In 178 IPL matches, Pollard has scored 3,268 runs at a strike rate of 150. The 34-year old has played some of the most amazing knocks including his 60 runs off 32 balls during the finals of 2013 IPL against CSK. MI were struggling at one stage but went on to win the match by 23 runs and lifted the title as well.

In previous seasons, the Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard have made a devastating bowling attack for Mumbai Indians. This season Mumbai Indians will be without the Pandya brothers, so Kieron Pollard’s influence will need to increase.

Daniel Sams

Daniel Sams, an all-rounder, was purchased by Mumbai Indians at a cost of INR 2.60 crore during the 2018 auction. The 29-year old Sams is currently the star in BBL. Although he has not been able to do justice to his talent at the national level, he is considered as one of the premier T20 players.

A young Australian cricketer, Sams may not have many appearances for his national team but he has a lot of experience to boast about. He has mostly been a T20 all-rounder for Australia. Previously representing Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals, he was picked up by the Sydney Thunders in the 2018-19 edition of the competition.

Historically, MI is known to back the all-rounder a lot and they will need someone to replace the likes of Hardik Pandya in the team. Anmolpreet Singh has been in good form this season and could be the perfect replacement for Sams as he can score some quick runs during the death overs and bowl at start or in the middle-overs as well.

Tim David

Batting with a right-handed stance, Tim David bagged by MI at the cost of INR 8.25 crore. A hard hitter well known for his prowess in various T20 leagues across the world, David played just one match for RCB during IPL 2018.

David Warner is a cricketer who has played for several T20 franchises, including Lahore Qalandars, Perth Scorchers, Hobart Hurricanes and Hallamshire. The cricketer has represented Australia in international tournaments including the 2014 ICC World Twenty at Lords and the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Hailing from Singapore, a country that doesn’t have much success in cricket, David has kept his cricket on fire. As a batter, he wants to show off his talent and play for the five-time champions.

Tymal Mills

Tymal Mills will be a superb death bowling partner for fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Mills, the perfect death bowling partner for fast bowlers can deceive the batsman with his different slower deliveries.

Callum Mills has represented England in 12 T20 matches. The-29 year old doesn’t have much to show for at the international level, Mills holds a lot of experience after playing several franchise based cricket all around the world.

The Mumbai Indians picked up the 29-year old at a cost of INR 1.5 crore at the mega auction. Mills is highly expected to play all of the games for Mumbai Indians.
