The Kerala State Lottery Department organizes the “Christmas New Year Bumper” Lottery in January or early February every year. The annual lottery is popular and attracts thousands of participants for its first prize of ₹12 crores.

 The cost of one ticket is only Rs. 300, and the tickets are sold in eight series made up of fun letters. All the proceedings from the lottery go towards the public health of Kerala. The first nine prices of the lottery amount to ₹ 12 crores, ₹ 50 lacs, ₹10 lacs, ₹ 5 lacs, ₹ 1 lac, ₹ 5000, ₹ 3000, ₹ 2000, and ₹ 1000 respectively. The lottery also has a consolation prize worth ₹ 5 lacs. 


The annual lottery can turnaround the life of the winner and make them comfortable for life. The date of the draw is announced by the State Lottery Department when the sales of the tickets begin. The Kerala Government Gazette also publishes the results of the lottery. 


The process to claim the winning amount is simple, but you remember to submit your winning ticket to within 30 days of the announcement of the result. The winning ticket should carry your signature and address. 

  • Apart from the ticket, you also need to submit all the necessary documents like four passport-sized photos, self-attested claim form, copy of the PAN Card, and a valid ID Proof. 
  • You can claim prize money up to ₹1 lakh directly from the District Lottery Office. 
  • If you have won more than ₹1 lakh, then, you need to go to the office of the Director of State Lotteries, located in Thiruvananthapuram.
