A Winner of €19m National Lottery Ticket Sold in Castlebar

To win the Lottery is remarkable, but to win after seven months of un-won draws is just incredible.

A small roadside shop in Castlebar sold a record-breaking €19 million National Lottery ticket, which won last Saturday’s draw after more than seven months of un-won draws.

All eyes will be on Laura’s XL on Hopkins Road in Garryduff on Wednesday morning. After two big lotto wins, this is the latest success for a town that’s becoming known as a lotto betting hotspot.

In this tiny corner of the northwest, four jackpot prizes have been claimed so far—including a massive €29 million EuroMillions haul just over two years ago.

The Castlebar ticket holder, who’s just won the Irish lottery, has made contact and is preparing to collect their winnings.

The people of the small country town Carmacks have been left in suspense after the winning ticket managed to fly under the radar. The message board on their town’s website still displays a message saying they are waiting on paperwork to be finalized.

In 2014 Castlebar won its first EuroMillions jackpot, worth over €15 million. Two years ago another €17million jackpot was scooped in the area.

A major public and political talking point, €19.06 million has not been won since June last year.

This first-in-the-history prize, with a guarantee, might have seen the prize shared among any one of thousands who matched five numbers and a bonus, or further down the order of winning combinations if necessary.

The person who won the lottery had six lucky numbers.
